Answers before you order
Clear starting points for the questions contractors ask most often. For final structural selection, always follow approved project documents and the engineer-of-record.
Match the published model to the wall assembly, drawings, and required performance. Web width, gauge, stud spacing, wall height, loads, fire rating, and local code all matter. For structural or load-bearing work, use the engineer-of-record and approved submittals—not a web estimate—as the final authority.
A stud is the vertical C-shaped member that forms the wall. Track is the U-shaped runner installed at the floor and ceiling to receive the studs. Match the track width and gauge to the specified stud system unless the approved details call for a specialty track.
Deflection track is used where the structure above may move independently of a non-load-bearing wall. Use it only where the drawings, tested wall assembly, or engineer requires it; the required movement allowance and fastener pattern must match the approved detail.
KF Supplies treats 10 ft, 12 ft, and 16 ft as standard lengths, so those three lengths do not receive a custom service fee. Any other requested length is currently treated as custom and requires production review. Custom profiles, punch patterns, coatings, or other specification changes may also require separate technical review.
The estimator scales the selected published 10 ft retail price to the requested length and quantity. Standard 10 ft, 12 ft, and 16 ft lengths have no custom fee. Yes, for catalog items marked verified in stock. Items marked price-ready, delivery orders, and all custom production items need availability or production confirmation before payment. Pickup instructions are released after confirmed payment.
South El Monte pickup uses the current local pickup rate. Delivery orders use the complete ship-to address during checkout. A valid resale or exemption certificate may qualify an order for tax treatment after review; a contractor or business license by itself does not automatically remove tax.
